Saddle machines

Sybian alternatives: saddle sex machines ranked by value

Right. You want to ride something that does half the work. Good news: "Sybian" is a brand, not a law of physics, and you don't have to pay Sybian prices for one any more.

How I review: I don't test products hands-on. I go through the maker's specs, materials, warranty, and returns, then match each one to the people it suits. Yes, I earn a little if you buy through my links. No, it doesn't change who I say it's for. How I put these Fit Checks together.

What is the best Sybian alternative?

The short answer: for most people, the best Sybian alternative is the Motorbunny Original. It often lists for less, adds app control, and comes with four silicone attachments. If you want thrust as well as rotation, look at the Motorbunny Buck.

What is a saddle machine?

A saddle machine is a padded seat with a motor inside. You straddle it, an attachment sits under you, and the machine rotates, vibrates, or (on one model) thrusts. You control the pressure and the angle with your body. The Sybian invented the category, which is why everyone calls them "Sybians".

It's the opposite of a thrusting machine, where you lie back and the machine moves. If you like being on top, this is your type. Still deciding? Here's how all six kinds of sex machine compare.

Who saddles suit, and who they don't

  • Great for: people who love riding, vulva owners who like strong external vibration, couples who want a partner on the controls.
  • Not great for: tight budgets (saddles start around $1,000, while budget thrusting machines start far lower), small flats with no storage, and anyone with knee or hip trouble that makes straddling uncomfortable.

What to look for in the specs

  1. Motion type. Rotation, vibration, or thrust. Most do the first two. Only the Motorbunny Buck thrusts.
  2. Attachment material. Silicone is non-porous and easy to clean. TPE is softer but porous, so it needs more care.
  3. Controls. Wired controller, app, or both. Long-distance app control matters if your partner lives elsewhere.
  4. Weight and size. Saddles are solid lumps of motor and padding, and not every maker publishes the weight. You'll be lifting it in and out of storage.
  5. Returns and warranty. On a $1,000+ purchase, the returns window is your safety net.

Don't buy this, buy that

If you're eyeing the Sybian Classic purely for the name, look at the Motorbunny Original first. On paper you get the same rotation-plus-vibration idea, plus an app, often for less. Buy the Sybian if you want the original and simple dials. That's a fair reason.

Comparing the two head to head? I've done that too: Motorbunny vs Sybian. Every other machine I've covered is on the reviews page.

Questions people are too shy to ask

What is a Sybian?

A Sybian is the original saddle-style sex machine: a padded saddle you sit on, with a motor underneath that rotates and vibrates an attachment. "Sybian" is a brand name, but people use it for any ride-on machine, the way people say "Hoover" for any vacuum. Motorbunny and The Cowgirl make the best-known alternatives.

What is the best Sybian alternative?

On value, the Motorbunny Original. It often lists for less than most Sybian listings, and it adds app and long-distance control, which the Sybian Classic does not have. It also lists four body-safe silicone attachments and an 11-year warranty.

Are saddle machines only for vulva owners?

No. Most saddles come with both insertable attachments and flat external pads, and anyone can use an insertable attachment anally with plenty of lube and a slow start. Check what is in the box: some models include only two attachments, and extras cost more.

How loud is a saddle machine?

Only one saddle maker in this guide publishes a noise figure: The Cowgirl lists its Unicorn at 98 dB at 25 cm and its Premium at 98 dB from 10 in away, which is loud. The others are "not published", and I will not guess. If thin walls are a worry (hello, Gary), check the returns window before you buy so you have a way out.

Before you buy

Clean every attachment before first use, use water-based lube with silicone attachments, and check the returns window. Then enjoy it. You've earned a sit-down.

Stay curious, stay lubed. x Rox
